Wayne Anderson is a talented instrumentalist from the Bay Area. He is a gifted guitarist and musician with experience as a music instructor spanning more than two decades. Born in Richmond Va., to a family of musical and theatre performers and educators. Surrounded by inspiration, Wayne began formal music training by learning to play the drums and the saxophone. At the age of 10, he started to learn to play the guitar and explore the musical worlds of classic rock and jazz styles. Following a lifelong passion to see the world, Wayne joined the United States Navy at the age of 18. While serving in the military, he never forgot his love for music. Throughout his 4 years of military service, he still found ways to both develop his guitar skills and delight fellow members of the military with sweet blues. At the end of his active service, he settled in the city of San Francisco Bay Area where he went to school to study music. He enrolled at San Francisco C.C., where he studied Jazz Performance, Big Band Arranging, Classical Music Theory and Harmony; Blue Bear School of Music, Blues guitar performance and studying Jazz and Classical/Brazilian Guitar, with Award-winning guitarist Adam Levi, Robert Bozina as well as, the late, Bay Area master guitarist/teacher/author Warren Nunes, and the legendary Jazz Bassist, Herbie Lewis, The New School, San Francisco,Ca.
While working his way through school, Wayne worked as a sideman and Leader performing at Jazz festivals and many local venues as a guitarist in a verity of musical setting; solo gigs, group performances as well as, theater local performances all over the Bay Area.
In over 20 years as guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and musician, Wayne has worked alongside, sharing the stage with Bay Area’s best including Herbie Lewis, Donald “Duck” Bailey, Faryard Nichols of the famous Nichols Bro’s, Pianist, Ed Kelly, master Double Bass player Herbie Lewis.
Wayne is mostly known as a Jazz guitarist but enjoys venturing into other genres like Funk, Reggae, Blues, Haitian. With is his vast experience in the world of music, it comes as no surprise that he has been a lead performer at the San Francisco Fillmore Festival, most recently on a mini-tour to Innsbruck, Austria with Anderson Band at the New Orleans Jazz Festival...
